P.A.N.K.

BÁRÓ ROSÉ PÉT-NAT

2024

Attila Pálffy is a seventh generation winemaker in the northern Hungarian village of Köveskál. P.A.N.K. (Pálffy Attila Natural Köveskál) started as Pálffy's natural wine side project, an homage to his love of punk music and culture, and quickly became his full-time job when the wines became a major sensation. The P.A.N.K. project is managed by Attila and his fiancée Orsolya, and consists of small-batch natural wines made in experimental styles. The family's organic vineyards are on Pannonian limestone, volcanic basalt rock and red sandstone soils. The winery is certified organic.

Báró is Pálffy’s Kékfrankos rosé pét-nat, named after Attila’s friend’s greyhound (pictured on the label). It was grown on the Pellengér vineyard, with mostly basalt volcanic soils with some limestone. The 2024 vintage has flavors like blood orange, grapefruit and yuzu, with a nice lingering acidity on the finish.

Whole cluster pressing and spontaneous fermentation in a Speidel tank. Unfined, unfiltered and not disgorged. Zero sulfur added. Certified organic farming.

From Wine Enthusiast: “Slightly cloudy and with persistent fizziness, this deep pink sparkler has a nose of pomegranate, clementine and lavender. It has strawberry, cherry and tangerine flavors with notes of mint leaf, rose petal and white chocolate, and a lively finish.” (92 Points, December 2023)
