HÁRSLEVELŰ VÁLOGATÁS

2013

This is Lenkey's Hárslevelű Selection from 2013, which he describes as his favorite vintage since 1999. The best Hárslevelű grapes were selected for this wine from 4 of Lenkey's top parcels in Mád, Tokaj, rich in volcanic tuff, rhyolite and iron oxide. The wine was spontaneously fermented with native yeasts in large new and used Hungarian oak barrels, and subsequently aged for 3 years in Hungarian oak and 4.5 years in bottle.

Minerals and smoky honey appear on the nose, with chestnuts, allspice, and candied stone fruits transitioning to salty, waxy green apples and tart pomelo on the palate. Long lingering finish. Certified organic, 1928 bottles produced.

From Wine Enthusiast: “Medium straw in the glass, this wine has a bouquet of peach, pineapple and apricot preserves. Pineapple and apricot preserves continue on the palate with a tiny touch of residual sugar and notes of nutmeg, cocoa butter and lemon thyme. The vivid finish is marked with a splash of lychee and bergamot.” (91 Points, December 2023)
