Pálffy Pince

MÁL

2019

Gyula and Attila Pálffy are a 6th and 7th generation father-son winemaking team in Köveskál, a tiny village north of Lake Balaton in Western Hungary. Lake Balaton is famous for its Olaszrizlings (Welschrieslings), and this one from Pálffy is wonderfully flavorful and mineral-driven. The soils of the estate give the wines their distinctive quality - the soil has significant amounts limestone and volcanic basalt, with smaller pieces of ancient red sandstone.

This is Pálffy’s Olaszrizling selection from the Mező-Mál vineyard from 2019. The palate is herbal and creamy, with flavors of baked golden apples and marzipan. Spontaneous fermentation and aging for 12 months in stainless steel (50%) and 500 L used Hungarian oak (50%). Certified organic.
