Szent Donát

MÉSZKŐ

2022

Szent Donát is located in the small village of Csopak, on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. The predominant and most historically relevant varietal here, as in most towns in north Balaton, is Olaszrizling (Welschriesling), but Furmint has long been an important local varietal as well.

The Szent Donát Mészkő is a mineral Furmint-Olaszrizling blend from St. Donát's limestone soils in Csopak, on the northern coast of Lake Balaton. Mészkő means "limestone" in Hungarian, and this wine is all about the terroir; the limestone departs a distinctively creamy salinity to the wine. Flavors like baked green apple, candied citrus, white blossoms, pepper and herbs dominate on the nose and palate.

Partially spontaneous fermentation and aging on the fine lees in stainless steel. Furmint 50%, Olaszrizling 30%, Sauvignon Blanc 20%. Unfined, rough filtration, vegan. Certified organic.
