Somlói Vándor

NAGY-SOMLÓI HÁRSLEVELŰ

2020

Somlói Vándor's Hárslevelű comes from old vines on the distinctively volcanic soils of Somló, an extinct volcanic butte located north of Lake Balaton. The soil is black basalt with rich clay. The 2020 vintage was hot and dry, so Tomi carefully selected a harvest date in September to maintain nice acidity in the wine.

On the palate, dried apricot and herbal flavors are accompanied by an overwhelmingly powerful salty finish. Spontaneous fermentation, and aging on the lees for 11 months in stainless steel. Unfiltered and unfined, certified organic, with only 2000 bottles produced.

From Wine Enthusiast: “A bouquet of Mirabelle plum, guava and oyster shell sets the scene for Valencia orange, grapefruit and mint tea flavors. It is bright on entry, and the mint notes are joined by dried thyme and a touch of salinity that leave a lasting impression.” (91 Points, December 2023)
