TÚLÉLŐ 2.0

2014

This is a one-of-a-kind dry Tokaji blend of Furmint and Hárslevelű from the difficult vintage of 2014. This wine, Túlélő 2.0 (“Survivor” in Hungarian), was made from the best grapes from all of Lenkey's vineyards in 2014, which constituted only about 10% of the fruit on the estate. (The first “Túlélő” was made in 2008, an equally challenging year for winemaking in Tokaj.)

The wine was spontaneously fermented and aged for 48 months in used 500 L Hungarian oak. and then aged an additional 40 months in bottle. The wine is powerful and complex, with flavors like hay, wax, lavender, and apricot skin on the nose. Muddle orange and yellow fruits dominate on the palate, with a vibrant herbal acidity. The soils on Lenkey’s estate are rich in basalt, limestone, and other volcanic minerals like rhyolite and bentonite, which contribute to the powerful minerality present in the wine.

Unfined and rough filtration only, organic farming.
